Panel Discussion in support of World Cancer Day!

Mathiwos Wondu–YeEthiopia Cancer Society, Ethiopian NCD Consortium, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and our partners in unison cordially invite you to attend panel discussion to be held on next Saturday February 4, 2012 at Ethiopian National Theater starting 9:00AM. Several senior cancer specialists and oncologists present paper and question and answer session is also included to make the program one of inspirational one.

World Cancer Day takes place every year on 4 February and is the singular initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight against the global cancer epidemic.

World Cancer Day 2012 is particularly important as it falls almost half a year after the first UN High-level Meeting on Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and the signing of the Political Declaration supporting prevention and control of these devastating conditions, including cancer.

World Cancer Day 2012 has been themed ’Together it is possible’ because it is only by every person, organization, government individually doing their part that the world will be able to reduce premature deaths from cancer and other NCDs by 25% by 2025.

Therefore, aligning under the banner of ’Together it is possible’; we would like you to support us in using this upcoming milestone to encourage everyone affected by cancer (individuals, civil societies and governments), to ensure that they take responsibility for reducing the burden of this disease.

To this end, we have been contacting various organizations to sponsor and support the initiative, and to encourage staff members, family and friends to participate in this historical event, the overall objective of which will be to enhance the awareness of the society of cancer and its prevention and treatment possibilities, believed to be very effective in reducing the overall cancer burden. We look forward to hearing from you soon. For your information, we have already secured permission to conduct the panel discussion from the responsible office of the Municipality of Addis Ababa.
